Exhibition ‘Ignacio Aldecoa. The craft of writing’ in the Biblioteca Nacional

Until next June 14, the Biblioteca Nacional presents in its Sala Jorge Juan the exhibition Ignacio Aldecoa. The craft of writing, on the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the most outstanding writers of the so-called «generation of half a century» or «generation of 50», and undoubtedly one of the great masters of novel and modern Spanish-language fiction.

Curated by José Ramón González, this exhibition aims to bring his figure and his work to the public, and for this proposes a tour of his family background, his years of training, his university period in Salamanca and Madrid, his first steps in the world of letters and his definitive consolidation in the literary field during the 50s and 60s. Not forgetting, of course, his connection with the world of cinema, his passion for travel and adventure and the incessant search for a personal paradise that he found largely in the Canary Islands and Ibiza. With this, visitors can get a full idea of his important production and brilliant work as a novelist that was unfortunately interrupted by his unexpected death in 1969, when he was just 44 years old.

In addition to photographs and images of different moments of the life of Aldecoa, the visitor will be able to know the first editions of his texts, the original publication of some of his stories in the period magazines in which he made them known, the reeditions and studies of his work and some of the mechanoscritos that have been preserved, as well as a small selection of personal objects that accompanied him throughout a fruitful career dedicated in body and soul to the craft of writing.
