Next 12 December at 7.30 pm, the Embassies of Argentina and Uruguay, together with Casa de América, celebrate in the Gabriela Mistral Amphitheatre of this evening an authentic milonga rioplatense: a night where music, the dance and passion of the Rio de la Plata will be the real protagonists. Free admission until capacity is full.
Every 11 December is celebrated the Day of the Tango, in commemoration of the births of Carlos Gardel, indisputable icon of the tango-song, and Julio de Caro, musical innovator who transformed forever the sound of the typical orchestras.
Since 2009, tango has been part of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, recognition that highlights its universal value and enshrines it as a shared legacy between Argentina and Uruguay. Born in the milongas -traditional dance halls of Buenos Aires and Montevideo-, tango has been able to cross borders, keeping alive the spirit of the Río de la Plata in every corner of the world.
The musical atmosphere will be in charge of the DJ Jorge Ramírez (Argentina), and we will have the voice of Lucía Trentini (Uruguay), accompanied by a guitarist.
