Fundación Alternativas takes stock of the EU-CELAC Summit

On next Thursday, November 13 from 11.30 am, the Fundación Alternativas presents the seminar De Santa Marta a Madrid, a Balance of the EU-CELAC Summit and perspectives for the Ibero-American Summit.

These days, 9 and 10 November, the IV European Union-CELAC summit took place in Santa Marta (Colombia). In this way, the high-level political dialogue which was resumed at the third summit held in Brussels in July 2023, and which left behind inter-regional relations paralysed on this scale for more than five years, has been continued.

The aim of this event is to analyse the results of the Summit and to draw up an initial report a few days after it took place; with the added intention of drawing some lessons that can be drawn from the XXX Ibero-American Summit to be held in Madrid in November next year.

Antonio Jesús Sánchez-Fuentes, director of the Instituto Complutense de Estudios Internacionales (ICEI-UCM), Campus de Somosaguas, and Xira Ruiz Campillo, academic secretary of ICEI, will welcome you to a colloquium in which Vicente Palacio will participate, Director of the Observatorio de Política Exterior of the Fundación Alternativas; Lennys Rivera, author of the report Iberoamérica 2025 of the Fundación Alternativas and specialist in energy transition, and Francisco J. Verdes-Montenegro, ICEI researcher and coordinator of the Iberoamerica 2025 Report of the Fundación Alternativas. The seminar will close at 12.30 pm Francisco J. Gassó, director general for Ibero-America and the Caribbean, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (remote).
