On the occasion of the festivities of the Day of the Dead and in the framework of the 70th anniversary of the publication of Pedro Páramo, by Juan Rulfo, Casa de América presents this afternoon at 19 hours in the Sala Iberia the feature film Pedro Páramo, directed by Rodrigo Prieto and inspired by the homonymous novel of the great Mexican writer.
This film version of the emblematic novel of magical realism and Mexican literature, presented in collaboration with the Instituto Cultural de México and the Embassy of Mexico, is the first film directed by Rodrigo Prieto, Known for his solid background as a cinematographer.
The film tells the story of a man who is in search of his father, named Pedro Páramo, in a village condemned by violence and the fury of a frustrated love. Follow a dusty road to a village of death. Time passes from one consciousness to another in a hypnotic flow of dreams, desires and memories, a world of ghosts dominated by the figure of Pedro Páramo, lover, lord, murderer.
The projection is carried out with the support of the Secretariat of Foreign Relations of the Government of Mexico, through the Head of Unit for Intersectoral Coordination (JUCI) and the General Directorate of Cultural Diplomacy, and the company Netflix.
Will welcome to the event Teresa Zacarias Figueroa, minister and cultural attaché of Mexico in Spain, and director of the Instituto Cultural de México in Spain. Tickets will begin to be distributed at the Casa America Information Point one hour before the start of the screening.
