On Tuesday 30 September, at 5.30 p.m., the Foro Cultural de Austria will present the Vienna City Hall’s exhibition entitled The Viennese model of social housing at the Technical School of Architecture in Madrid (ETSAM) (Calle Juan de Herrera, 4).
The event will feature, together with authorities from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda, the Polytechnic University of Madrid and ETSAM, the ambassador of Austria, Enno Drofenik. A Spanish wine will then be offered.
With a tradition of more than 100 years, Vienna has developed a system that ensures affordable and high-quality housing for a large part of its population. Since the 1920s, the city has opted for social housing with an innovative approach that combines public investment with private sector participation. Today, more than 60% of Viennese live in municipal housing or apartments subsidized by the city council. The exhibition, which has already toured several cities worldwide, delves into the history and current design of the Viennese model.
