A Moncloa man, Jorge Mijangos, the new special ambassador for Ibero-American Cooperation

The Council of Ministers appointed diplomat Jorge Mijangos as ambassador on special mission for Ibero-American Cooperation this Tuesday. His professional career has developed primarily within the Presidency of the Government.

Born in Burgos in 1976 and with a degree in Economics, Mijangos joined the diplomatic service in 2005. He initially held positions in the Undersecretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation before joining the Presidency of the Government, first in the General Secretariat and later in the cabinet of the President of the Government.

He has been stationed at the Spanish Embassy in El Salvador as Minister Counselor and has served as Consul to the Republic of Korea and Consul to the Spanish Embassy in Brazil. In 2017, he joined the Protocol Department of the Presidency of the Government, where he previously served until his appointment in 2019 as Director General of Protocol for the Presidency of the Government.
