‘Las Amargas Lágrimas de Petra Von Kant’ arrives at the Teatro Bellas Artes

From 4 to 28 September, the Teatro Bellas Artes de Madrid presents the play Las Amargas Lágrimas de Petra Von Kant (The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant), written by the prestigious German film and theatre director Rainer Werner Fassbinder and directed by Rakel Camacho, with a luxury cast of Ana Torrent, Aura Garrido, Maribel Vitar, Julia Monje and María Luisa San José.

This work, praised by international critics since its premiere in 1971, portrays the romantic disaffection from a perspective and a feminine universe under the proposal of a bold and aesthetically charged staging that positions the director, Rakel Camacho, as one of the most prominent voices in the current scene.

The work presents Petra von Kant, a well-known fashion designer who has just broken up with her second husband and is living with her secretary, a young woman of modest birth. Soon, Petra is deeply attracted to her and promises to launch her into stardom as an international model. What starts as a promise of success turns into a stormy relationship between the two.
