Nearly €800,000 to repair the roof of the Embassy’s chancellery in Lisbon

This Tuesday, the Council of Ministers approved the emergency declaration for the contracting of works and services for the repair of the roof of the chancellery of the Spanish Embassy in Lisbon, for an amount of €794,240.52 (VAT included).

According to the Government, the condition of the entire roof of the chancellery building of the Spanish Embassy in Lisbon, “of great historical and cultural value,” is evidence of its significant deterioration, with water leaks into the facilities, both on the first and second floors, “causing several landslides in offices and work areas and posing a serious danger to the safety of the building.”

Therefore, the Executive believes that immediate action must be taken to prevent the accelerated deterioration of the building’s structural elements from endangering both the integrity of the building and that of the personnel who perform their duties and reside there. To this end, two distinct but interrelated types of actions are required: execution and technical management of the works.
