The Círculo de Bellas Artes is once again this summer a climatic refuge

Until next September 7, the Ballroom of the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid becomes a climate refuge open to all citizens. The timetable is from 11 to 21 hours.

A climate shelter is an accessible space that protects us from the high temperatures of summer. It is intended especially for people who are most vulnerable to heat, but it is open to all citizens.

Global warming is an undeniable fact, as is the effect of “heat islands” in urban environments. So adapting to the heat is an urgent need for cities.

The climate shelter is located in the Ballroom, the largest and most beautiful space of the Circle and its objective is to be a square, but covered, cool, with vegetation and places to rest, meet, work, relax, read or play chess.

The shelter has the following facilities:

.- Siestódromo: facility designed as a space of collective rest, equipped with hammocks where to stop, read, relax or take a nap without haste.

.- Workspace: here you will find tables, WiFi connection and sockets for your mobile phones and computers. ¡ Everything you need to work comfortably!

.- Water source: keep your body hydrated! Don’t forget to bring your reusable bottle.

.- Board games: the Refuge has this year with the collaboration of Tranjis Games through a ludoteca that contains a selection of table games to use freely.

.- Chess corners: tables and boards distributed throughout the Refuge.

.- Reading corner: a selection of the publishing house Círculo y Lengua de trapo, children’s books and different publications.
