Another summer with the cycle ‘Cibeles de cine’ in the city hall of Madrid

 

The Cibeles cinema cycle returns to the Crystal Gallery of the Palace of Cibeles again this summer to celebrate its tenth anniversary with an extensive program that includes more than 70 titles with great classics, cult cinema, seasonal hits and family cinema.

 

From 26 June to 11 September, and after having gathered more than 35,000 spectators in its 2024 edition, the public will be able to enjoy another year of careful programming at this event organized by the Area of Culture, Tourism and Sport and conceived and produced by mk2.

 

This year a very special program has been prepared, designed for all audiences, where there will be no shortage of big box office hits of the season (Anora, Wicked, Los pecadores, The brutalist, Emilia Pérez, La sustancia) (I am still here, All Loud and Loud, Flow, Parthenope), through the long-awaited opening titles (La trama fenicia, Formula 1, Materialistas) and cult titles from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s such as Annie Hall, Dirty Dancing or Pulp Fiction.

 

You can also see the most awarded Spanish films of the year such as Sorda, La infiltrada, El 47, La habitación de al lado or Sirat, recently winner of the Jury Prize at the Cannes Festival, through special sessions with the presence of part of the team.

 

Sundays will be dedicated to the classics with films such as Two on the Road, Breakfast with Diamonds or West Side Story. The anniversaries of titles such as Charles Chaplin’s Golden Dream (100th anniversary); Billy Wilder’s Twilight of the Gods (75th anniversary); Billy Wilder’s Apartment (65th anniversary); Steven Spielberg’s Jaws (50th anniversary) o Wishing Love, by Wong Kar-Wai (25th anniversary).

 

The day of Saturdays will focus on movies to enjoy in family screening titles like Lilo & Stitch, The Princess Bride, How to Train Your Dragon, Vaiana 2 or Wild Robot. It should be noted that the sessions Sala Glamour (Maria Callas, La sustancia, Anora, Dirty Dancing) will have a preliminary colloquium by the team of this women’s magazine and guests such as Cristina Trenas, Marina Salas, Jimina Sabadú, Denisse P. Molina, Martín Cuervo or Ariane Hoyos.

 

The Cibeles de Cine programme is completed by the aerial exhibition Pop Icons, which includes pop-style portraits of great cinema icons, by the French artist Flore Maquin, who has worked with Universal Pictures, Paramount Channel, The Hollywood Reporter or the Cannes Film Festival, and who also designed the poster for this tenth edition.

 

The films are screened in VOSE (Original Version Subtitled in Spanish), except on Saturdays, when the films are usually shown in a dubbed version. The schedule can be found at this link.
