Geopolitical paths for the energy transition at the Fundación Naturgy

 

Tomorrow Wednesday, at 9.30 am, Fundación Naturgy and the Real Instituto Elcano organize the day Geopolitical paths for energy transition. Industrial and trade policies in China, the EU and the US.

 

The conference will take place at the Auditorium of Naturgy in Avenida de América, 38, with online broadcasting and simultaneous translation into Spanish and English.

 

The meeting will address how the European Union can align its industrial and trade policies with competitive decarbonisation, in an international context marked by geopolitical tensions and technological transformation. The implications of China’s leadership in key technologies, US industrial policy developments and opportunities for transatlantic cooperation will also be discussed.

 

The event will be opened by María Eugenia Coronado, general director of Fundación Naturgy, and Charles Powell, director of the Real Instituto Elcano, welcoming the attendees.

 

Opening session will be held by Mr Nicolás González Casares, MEP and member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy. Then there will be a colloquium, followed by questions, moderated by Gonzalo Escribano, director of the Energy and Climate Program at the Real Instituto Elcano, in which Samantha Gross, director of Energy Security and Climate Initiative, Brookings Institution, will participate; Pedro Linares, professor, Comillas Pontifical University ICAI-IIT; director, Economics for Energy, and Jiayi Zhou, researcher, Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). Afterwards there will be a networking coffee.
