84th Madrid Book Fair, Portugal presents its literature

 

Between 30 May and 15 June, 18 Portuguese and Spanish writers and journalists will meet at the 84th edition of the Madrid Book Fair in Parque de El Retiro.

 

The literary program, promoted by the Embassy of Portugal includes dialogues, workshops, concerts, autograph sessions and presentations with names such as Afonso Reis Cabral, Inês Fonseca, João Moita, Patrícia Portela, Teolinda Gersão, Raquel Nobre Guerra, among many others. Within the Read Iberoamerica cycle, Lee, Mia Couto and Alexandra Lucas Coelho will bring Portuguese literature to the heart of the Casa de América, in a celebration of critical thinking and creativity that connects continents and stories. Portugal will also have a stand, which this year will include the SNOB Bookshop, with Portuguese editions and translations available to readers.

June 11 at 18:30 h The return of Julia Mann to Paraty, with Teolinda Gersão and moderation by María Jesús Fernández. Eugenio Trías Library;

 

June 12 at 7 pm New Portuguese Letters. The three Marys, with Soledad Gallego-Díaz, Veronica Palomares and Santiago Pérez Isasi. Casa de América (Miguel de Cervantes Room).

 

In addition, Visit Portugal will participate with a booth and various activities. In this edition will occupy booth #384, sector 6C (international zone).

 

In his booth organizes at 7 pm Tales under the umbrella, a daily activity in which Visit Portugal will read fragments of works by Portuguese authors under an umbrella, inviting attendees to an intimate moment to share the historical and cultural legacy of the country.

 

On Monday, June 2 at 11 o’clock there will be a presentation by Inés de Castro, of Isabel Stilwell, in the Ideas Workshop, Eugenio Trías Library (Retiro). Face-to-face meeting in which the writer will talk about her portrait of the posthumous queen of Portugal, Inés de Castro, as well as her story.

 

On Tuesday, 10 June at 11 am, Visit Portugal organizes Poetry and Fado Cups with muscatel flavor in the Sala de Actos Biblioteca Eugenio Trías (Retiro). On the occasion of Portugal Day and the Portuguese-speaking communities, Visit Portugal will pay tribute to great Portuguese poets such as Luis de Camões and the landscapes that have influenced his legacy, while attendees enjoy Portuguese verses, Moscatel wine and Port wine, accompanied by the fado melody.
