Next Tuesday, June 10 at 11 o’clock, the Fundación Alternativas presents in virtual form the report Blue economy facing the demographic and gender challenge (ECALRED), which identifies the niches of employment and the opportunities offered by the development of the considering women as a driving force for economic development, social and territorial cohesion and participatory governance.
The coastal population in rural municipalities (small size and large rural) has undergone changes in recent years (INE 2022). Small coastal towns are undergoing an urbanization process, which causes a steady increase in population with high environmental impacts and loss of traditional activities. The rural coastal municipalities are slightly masculinized, with higher rates in the small rural ones.
Following the welcome remarks by José Luis de la Cruz Leiva, director of Sustainability at Fundación Alternativas, a round table will take place in which Asunción Bernáldez, professor of journalism at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, will participate; Jesús Marcos Gamero, a researcher specializing in the analysis and study of the social and political dimensions of climate change; Dina Garzón, co-founder and coordinator of the Ecofeminista Network, and Estefanía Suárez, a law graduate.
