The International Festival of Classical Theatre of Mérida arrives in Madrid

 

Until next July 6 will take place the seventh edition of the extension of the International Festival of Classical Theatre of Mérida in Madrid, which this year extends its duration with 7 productions that can be seen at the Teatro Bellas Artes, the Teatros del Canal and the Teatro La Latina.

 

In this new edition of the Festival, which has been extended in terms of spaces, duration and number of works, The Teatro Bellas Artes will host five works that have enjoyed great success in previous editions of the International Festival of Classical Theatre of Mérida as Icons or the exploration of fate, by Rafael Álvarez “El Brujo”, a co-production of the Festival de Mérida and Productions El Brujo, which can be seen until June 1; will take the place of Lisístrata Montoya, from the company Gitanas a Escena that, Inspired by the classic work of Aristophanes, it deals with subjects such as the racism suffered by the Gypsy people and which will be on display from 4 to 8 June; it will be followed by Iphigenia, based on three classical tragedies and set in the Trojan War, starring María Garralón and Juanjo Artero, among others, and that will be seen between June 11 and 15.

 

The program of the Teatro Bellas Artes will be completed by the works República de Roma, an adaptation by Roberto Rivera starring Miguel Hermoso, among others, which will take place between 18 and 22 June; and the show on the way between the opera of the contemporary chamber and the theater, Cassandra or El elogio del fracaso, directed by María Herrero, between 25 and 29 June.

 

Also, Teatros del Canal will host, between 4 and 8 June, the play by Shakespeare Coriolano, directed by Antonio Simón and starring Roberto Enríquez, Carmen Conesa, Álex Barahona and Manuel Morón, among others.

 

Finally, the Teatro La Latina will host from July 3 the play Las bingueras de Eurípides, a production of Las niñas de Cádiz with José Troncoso as director.
