From today and until next 13 September, the Instituto Italiano de Madrid presents, on the occasion of PhotoEspaña 2025 the exhibition Suggestions of Italy. From Neorealism to the 21st Century, created by the Fondazione Torino Musei with the support of the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture and in collaboration with the Fondazione CRT, to undertake a ‘journey’ through photography from the pre-digital dimension.
The exhibition, curated by Riccardo Passoni, presents a significant selection of author photographs by Nino Migliori, Gianni Berengo Gardin, Mario Cresci, Mimmo Jodice, Mario Giacomelli, Franco Fontana, Luigi Ghirri, Ugo Mulas, Uliano Lucas, Gabriele Basilico, Ferdinando Scianna, Enzo Obiso and Bruna Biamino -belonging to the collections of the GAM Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea of Turin and of the Fondazione per l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT- from the end of the Second World War to the early years of this century and chosen on the basis of the theme “Italy” in order to offer the public a high-quality tour showing elements of the landscape, the city, the social dimension and architecture.
Sequences of images, in search of a renewed authenticity, mostly openly anti-rhetorical, made in order to try to re-code an Italy outside the schemes of the “postal” or monumental image.
