Premiere of ‘Casa de muñecas’ at the Teatro Fernán Gómez, with María León

The Teatro Fernán Gómez. Centro Cultural de la Villa presents until June 22 the play Casa de muñecas, with the main actress María León, along with Patxi Freytez, Pepa Gracia, Santi Marín and Alejandro Bruni.

The play Dollhouse, the classic of Nobel Prize winner Henrik Ibsen, comes renewed and set in 2024’s Oslo. The montage is a version by the playwright Eduardo Galán under the stage direction of Lautaro Perotti.

The piece updates the protagonist’s conflicts and dilemmas, reflecting the social and personal challenges of women in the contemporary world. Set in Oslo in 2024, it introduces Nora Helmer and her husband Osvaldo, who lead a seemingly ideal life. However, Osvaldo’s career advancement and the return of a friend from the past reveal hidden tensions that will test their relationship. In the face of social judgments and misunderstanding of her environment, Nora must make a decision that will mark a before and an after in her life: to leave home to find herself.

In this version of Casa de Muñecas, the essential conflicts of the original text are transferred to today’s society, where Nora faces problems such as gender inequality, social pressure and the struggle for personal independence in a context marked by individualism and family crises. The montage is a perfect combination of fidelity to the spirit of Ibsen and a contemporary perspective that connects with today’s audience. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
