El Teatro del Barrio presents ‘La doble vida de Virginia Woolf’

The play La doble vida de Virginia Woolf returns this Thursday 22 and Friday 23 May to the Teatro del Barrio, with text by Olga Amarís, direction by Áurea Martínez Fresno and interpretation by Roser Pujol and Balbino Lacosta.

The work is about the dissolution of the male and female genders. ” We live in a time when many people suffer from the inadequacy of official language to name reality. To name themselves. Traditional terminology based on binary classifications is not only strange, but erroneous and coercive in many cases by reducing the richness of diversity to a mere opposition of opposites”. This is how Olga Amarís, author of The Double Life of Virginia Woolf, a work in which Virginia Woolf, a renowned author of 20th-century avant-garde modernism, and Carl Gustav Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist and disciple of Sigmund Freud, meet casually on an opera stage. Both attend the performance of a play by Balzac. Throughout the conversation they engage on the difficulty of living a full life from the condition of woman or man alone, they will break away from the social veils and let their most intimate secrets come to light, causing moments of great comicality. In this encounter, both people will transform and take us to a surprising end”. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
