The Fundación Carlos de Amberes (calle Claudio Coello, 99), in collaboration with the Real Instituto Elcano, presents in its auditorium the study Spain and the BENELUX countries. Mutual images, which will take place next Monday, March 31, at 7 pm. The entrance to the event is free of charge upon registration by clicking on this link.

In Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, territories of the former XVII provinces of Flanders, the Spanish imprint still survives. These countries also have a great deal of influence in the European context.

This research complements previous studies on Spain’s relations with France and Germany. The BENELUX territory partly coincides with the former 17th Hispanic provinces, which has left traces of Spanish heritage, especially in Belgium. In addition, the BENELUX countries are influential in the European Union, with interests that may coincide or differ from those of Spain, which makes this analysis relevant for both Spaniards and citizens of these countries. The survey was carried out within the framework of the Image Barometer for Spain and focused on specific questions about BENELUX and Spain which were not included in the general report. There is also a difference between the views of the Flemish and the Walloons in Belgium because of their different political cultures between the Flemish and the Walloons.

Carmen González Enriquéz, professor and researcher at the Real Instituto Elcano, Area of Public Opinion; Pablo López Álvarez, president of the Official Chamber of Commerce of Spain in Brussels and Luxembourg; Charles Powell, director of the Real Instituto Elcano; J. Francisco Polo Martín, specialist in Corporate Communication and Daniel de Busturia, secretary of the Fundación Carlos de Amberes and member of the Board of the Asociación de Amigos Carlos de Amberes. Rafael Panadero, journalist and editor of Cadena Ser will moderate.
