This afternoon at 7 pm, the Instituto Italiano de Cultura in Madrid presents a meeting with the writer Giovanni Nucci.
Giovanni Nucci (Rome, 1969) is a writer and translator. Poet and author of fiction for adults and young people, he has spent more than twenty years studying and rewriting Greek and Roman myths to tell them to the youngest public. Among his best-known books, which have all become successful publishers in Italy and have been translated and published in Spanish with the publishing house Siruela, stands out the great success «The adventures of Ulysses» (Siruela, 2009). For several years, Nucci was director of the children’s collection «Il Baleno» of the publishing house Edizioni E/O and brought to Italy important illustrators and authors such as Wolf Erlbruch, Richard Scrimger, Barbara Nichols and Michael Sowa. He has collaborated with the cultural pages of the Italian newspapers La Stampa and L’Unità.
The meeting at the Instituto Italiano de Cultura in Madrid will take place within the framework of the writer’s stay in Madrid, who participates, until 15 December, in the first edition of the ABRAPALABRA Festival, the new Madrid festival dedicated to children’s and young people’s literature, organized by La Fábrica, in collaboration with La Casa Encendida.
The writer will be present at two meetings in La Casa Encendida, within the Festival:
– On 13 December at 11:45, for a meeting entitled «An author in the suitcase», in which the writer will talk with students of the Liceo Italiano de Madrid;
– On 14 December at 17:00, for a colloquium entitled «Dialogues about the terrible: Creating the terrible: difficulties in creating literature with edges», in which the writer will intervene along with Andrea Antinori and Paloma Valdivia on the limits of creation and the ways in which to tell children the most difficult or terrifying aspects of reality. The colloquium will be moderated by Virgina de la Rosa. For both events, admission is free until capacity is reached.
