Indra strengthens presence in the Peruvian Defense industry

The Diplomat The Government of Peru and the Spanish multinational company Indra have signed a Framework Agreement for Technological Cooperation that will allow the development of science, technology and innovation to be promoted as part of the strengthening of the Defense industry in the Andean country. “We signed an agreement with the Ministry of Defense of Peru to make Indra the driving force behind the technological development of the defense industry of this country,” said the Spanish company that provides consulting services on transportation, defense, energy, telecommunications, financial services and services to the public sector. The agreement was signed last week in Lima by Walter Astudillo, Minister of Defense, and José Vicente de los Mozos, CEO of Indra, and “marks a milestone for our company in Peru and thanks to which we will be able to establish a base that will allow us to build alliances with the main national aeronautical, naval and land industries, counting on modernization programs in the medium term,” he added through social networks. “This framework agreement will open the way to specific agreements for technological development projects, which represents a significant benefit to promote the military industry in the country,” said the minister. “We ratify our intention and commitment to contribute to the advancement of the technological industry in the Defense sector of Peru,” said José Vicente de los Mozos. The agreement, according to the Spain-Peru Council Foundation, includes the planning and development of workshops on current technologies in the field of Defense, based on Indra's experience in the European Union. In addition, it seeks to promote the digital transformation of the sector through the implementation of industry 4.0 technologies, process digitalization and technology transfer. “This signing represents another step in our ‘Leading the Future’ strategic plan, which aims to make Indra one of the leading global companies in defense, aerospace and advanced digital technologies, and also demonstrates Indra’s capabilities and leadership in technological solutions for defense and security,” the company continued. “At the recent APEC Peru 2024 summit, our advanced Crow Antidrone system was operated by the Peruvian Air Force (FAP) on loan, protecting attendees. This allowed the FAP to learn about the capabilities of this technology,” it said. “The next step is the presentation of a letter of intent to the Peruvian Air Force, to begin working meetings with the aim of reaching a specific agreement on antidrone defense and aerospace surveillance,” it concluded.
