The third edition of the Ukrainian Film Week, which began last November 23 and will continue to be held until 1st December at the Círculo de Bellas Artes, “strengthens the ties between Ukraine and Spain, by offering the Spanish public a window to the creativity and unbreakable spirit of our people in their struggle for freedom and for a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the context of the Russian aggression against Ukraine”, the Embassy of this country assures in a note sent to the media.
Ambassador Serhii Pohoreltsev stressed at the presentation that this festival “not only highlights the historical and cultural richness of our nation, but also the resistance and determination of the Ukrainian people”.
The festival presents a selection of films by avant-garde filmmakers, documentaries, children’s films, recent international festival hits and silent film classics. This year, and for the first time, Ukrainian Film Week includes a feature and short film competition, with prizes voted by the audience, as well as talks and panel discussions. Winners will be announced during the closing ceremony and will receive trophies in the shape of this year’s festival symbol: the Kherson watermelon.
