The Spanish Government has condemned this Thursday the “unacceptable terrorist attack” perpetrated on Wednesday against the facilities of Turkish Aerospace Industries near Ankara, which has caused several and more than twenty injuries.
“We express our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared through a statement. Spain condemns all forms of terrorism and stands by Turkey in the fight against this scourge,” it added.
At least four people died on Wednesday as a result of a “heinous” attack on the facilities of the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) company in Ankara, according to the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during his official visit to Russia.
For his part, the Minister of the Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, has reported the “neutralization” of the two alleged perpetrators of the attack and the Minister of Justice, Yilmaz Tunc, has announced the opening of an investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office into this “terrorist attack”.
The Government has not yet commented on the alleged authorship of the attack, although sources from the Interior Ministry have assured that they will report on it in the next few hours. The recordings from a security camera show a man and a woman as the perpetrators of the attack.
TAI is considered a pillar of the Turkish aerospace industry and parts for airplanes, drones, helicopters and satellites are manufactured in the attacked facilities. The company is also involved in international projects and supplies components for the Airbus A380 and the A400M military cargo aircraft.
