The Diplomat

The Diplomat in Spain is ten years old, a time in which we have had the support of our readers, without whom we would not have been able to reach this moment, something we would like to thank by inviting them to participate in the commemorative events we have organized in September and October.

Next Friday, the 20th, a conference dedicated to Spanish foreign policy in the last decade will be held in the Senate and on October 14th there will be a “birthday” party. We would like to invite all subscribers of The Diplomat who wish to do so to both events. To access the Senate, you must send your name and ID to the following email address: bgutierrez@prestomedia.es

The session “A decade of international politics: Spain, Europe and Ibero-America”, which will be held in the Upper House, and to which all ambassadors accredited in Spain are invited, will feature prominent analysts and figures of Spanish foreign policy. Among others, the former Secretaries of State for Foreign Affairs Ildefonso Castro and Cristina Gallach, the principal analyst of the Royal Elcano Institute Ignacio Molina, the journalists Lucía Méndez, Antonio San José and Miguel Ángel Aguilar, the former director of the European Commission in Spain, Francisco Fonseca; and the president of Sigma Dos, Gerardo Iracheta. You can consult the full programme of the day here.

During the commemorative party for the tenth anniversary, the special issue commemorating the ten years that The Diplomat has been informing its readers will also be presented. Edited by Prensamedia, the issue will include, in addition to a special greeting from the King of Spain, Felipe VI, interviews with the five Ministers of Foreign Affairs who have held the portfolio during the last ten years: José Manuel García-Margallo, Alfonso Dastis, Josep Borrell, Arancha González Laya and José Manuel Albares.

Articles by ambassadors who have wanted to collaborate in this special issue will also be published, as well as a greeting from the Vatican Nuncio, Monsignor Bernardito Auza, as dean of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Spain.

In the approximately 180 pages that the publication will have, you will also find extensive reports in which we will remember the most outstanding information published from 2014 to 2024 on The Diplomat website.

It will be the first time that The Diplomat in Spain prints a magazine in paper. An editorial effort that we hope will satisfy the expectations of our readers.
