In addition, Albares told his Haitian counterpart that Spanish Cooperation, which dates back to 1991, will continue to support the Haitian people in the recovery of their economic and social growth. Spain's development aid in Haiti currently has projects in progress worth more than 54 million euros, to which must be added more than five million euros in humanitarian aid. Among the most notable actions is the work carried out through the Cooperation Fund for Water and Sanitation to bring water to the main population centres of the country. Thanks to Spain, according to Foreign Ministry, more than ten percent of the Haitian population has obtained access to drinking water and sanitation.
