The Diplomat
The political correspondents of El País, Javier Casqueiro, and El Mundo, Marisa Cruz, were in charge of opening yesterday, Monday, the new series of The Diplomat’s Tertulias, analysing the possible scenarios after the double call for elections in the Basque Country and Catalonia, and the horizon of the European elections.
The event, held at the Hotel Meliá Princesa in Madrid, was attended by nearly forty diplomats who asked the two speakers numerous questions. The talk entitled ‘The political situation in Spain before the Basque, Catalan and European elections‘ was moderated by the director of The Diplomat, Luis Ayllón, and analysed the possible repercussions of the results of both elections and the European elections in June on Spanish national politics.
The Diplomat’s Tertulias, which began to be held in 2015, take place periodically to discuss different aspects of Spanish politics, economy and society. Aimed at foreign diplomats in Madrid, they take place in a reduced format and under the condition of strict confidentiality of what is discussed in the room.
