On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the death of Pablo Picasso and in collaboration with Ediciones Akal and the Casa de Velázquez, the Instituto Francés presents next Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Pierre Paris room of Casa Velázquez (Calle Paul Guinard, 3) the book Escritos 1935-1959, which will reveal a new, hidden facet of the painter, that of the author.
During the meeting, it will be possible to discover a fundamental and literary Picasso. The art historian and professor Miguel Ángel Cajigal Vera (El Barroquista) and the publisher Jesús Espino Nuño will present the book published by Ediciones Akal.
The present edition offers the reader all of Picasso’s writings, including a large number of unpublished works discovered both in the collection of Dora Maar and in private collections and those of the Picasso Museums in Paris and Barcelona. The fascination that Picasso continues to exert on today’s public makes it more necessary than ever to read these texts, which are often unknown and yet indispensable for understanding his work. This volume, with introduction and notes by Marie-Laure Bernadac and Christine Piot, and accompanied by an important graphic apparatus, allows us to immerse ourselves in the heart of the creative process of one of the greatest artists of the 20th century.
