Diplomat Eduardo Jorge Silva has presented the Copies of his Letters of Credence as the new Ambassador of Cape Verde to Spain.
Eduardo Jorge Silva, who until now was the national director of State Protocol in his country, went to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he presented the Copies to the ambassadors’ introductory secretary, María Sebastián de Erice.
With a degree in International Law from the State University of Azerbaijan, the new ambassador is a veteran diplomat who has held numerous posts both in Cape Verde and in other countries.
Among other posts, he has been Director General of Global Affairs and Director General of Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Communities, as well as Director of the Cabinet of the Minister and Director of Protocol to the President of the Republic of Cape Verde.
He has also been Chargé d’Affaires of Cape Verde in Italy and Permanent Representative to the FAO; and Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy in Portugal.
Shortly after being appointed Ambassador of Cape Verde to Spain, Eduardo Jorge Silva, took the oath of office, in Praia, and affirmed that his priority will be to maintain and increase the level of existing bilateral relations in the most diverse aspects.
The new ambassador recalled that relations between the two countries are recognised as “a landmark of excellence” and, in the framework of political-diplomatic relations, have a density “well founded on an undeniable awareness of the guiding values and principles” that facilitate a cooperation of rare coherence.
The new Cape Verdean ambassador to Spain expressed his “gratitude for the election and the confidence” and said he was aware of the level of difficulty of the task that awaits him and his team at the embassy.
He added that he will pay particular attention to companies that invest or intend to invest in the islands, and that he will work to increase the existing framework of cooperation with autonomous communities such as the Canary Islands, Galicia, Madrid and many others.
