As part of the Classical Music Series 2023, the auditorium of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes San Fernando in Madrid (Calle Alcalá 13) will host a concert by the Korean violinist Sueye Park on Thursday 14 September at 12 noon. Free admission until full capacity is reached.
Sueye Park was born in South Korea and began taking violin lessons at the age of four. Her exceptional musical talent was recognised at an early age and at the age of nine she began studying with Ulf Wallin at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. Park has participated in numerous international radio and television broadcasts. Making his recording debut in 2017 with Paganini’s Caprices [BIS-2282], he released the solo recital Journey through a Century [BIS-2492] in 2021, which was voted Gramophone’s Recording of the Month.
Pianist Honggi Kim, who will accompany the violinist, has won prizes at numerous international piano competitions, including the Geneva, China International, Isang Yun in Korea and Géza Anda in Switzerland. He was a semi-finalist at the 2017 Cliburn Competition and, in 2019, he won the Hong Kong International Piano Competition. Especially, he won the first prize and 2 special prizes for best chamber music, best Spanish music at the 60th Jaén International Piano Competition (Spain).
The concert programme includes the pieces Sonata for violin and piano No.3 in E flat major, Op.12 No.3, by Ludwig van Beethoven; the Sonata for violin and piano in F major, MWV Q26, by Felix Mendelssohn, and the Sonata for violin and piano in A major, FWV 8, by César Franck.
