Tomorrow Thursday at 10pm, Cibeles de Cine will celebrate the centenary of the film starring Harold Lloyd, Safety Last!, with a very special screening and afterparty.
This masterpiece of silent cinema, directed in 1923 by Fred C. Newmeyer and Sam Taylor, offers the spectator one of the most memorable interpretations of the Seventh Art by the iconic Harold Lloyd, such as the scene in which the character is left hanging from the handles of a clock from the heights of a skyscraper.
In addition to Harold Lloyd, the other big star of the evening will be the multi-faceted Guatemalan artist Meneo (aka Rigo Pex), who will provide live music for the film. This new soundtrack, composed expressly for the occasion, will fuse Latin rhythms and electronica, a hallmark of the musical career of the artist who has already participated in festivals such as Sónar and Primavera Sound and whose cultural proposals have been seen at the Venice Biennale, the MACBA in Barcelona and the famous TED Talk.
After the screening with the live show and within the same space, the Galería de Cristal at CentroCentro, spectators will be able to enjoy an afterparty that will also feature Meneo as the star of the show. This time it will be with a DJ set by the artist, in which he will be performing a journey through all his styles, latest productions and iconic remixes that combine kitsch with folk, and Latin with electronic. All attendees will be treated to a Campari Spritz courtesy of Campari.
The Galería de Cristal at CentroCentro, a space belonging to Madrid City Council’s Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport, and the gastro area will be open from 8pm, the screening will be at 10pm and the afterparty will take place from 11.30pm to 1.30am. Tickets for this special event cost 6€ and are already available at this link.
