Until 27 August, Casa de México is showing the exhibition CDMX: la gran ciudad velada (CDMX: the great veiled city), by photographer Eduardo Marco, in its project room (floor 0).
This exhibition, which is part of the Photo España programme, displays 27 unpublished images that Marco took during his stay in Mexico City in 2022. It is a wide variety of photographs with the city as the protagonist, ranging from the macro space through a series of aerial photographs, to the more intimate space of the streets and inhabitants of the big city.
The exhibition offers a dreamlike effect that goes beyond realistic reproduction. The known is transformed into an object of astonishment. Objects are given new qualities once filtered through the photographer’s aesthetic power and his ability to combine light, colour and perspective. His photographs always show an angle that combines the beautiful and the sinister. He manages to show the beautiful and the despairing from a different, unforeseen and always shocking angle.
