Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán yesterday congratulated Vox leader Santiago Abascal on the “excellent” results of Sunday’s municipal and regional elections, which he believes show that “the ‘reconquest’ of the right continues in Spain”, reports Europa Press.

Orbán, who spells ‘reconquest’ in Spanish, is confident that the July elections will be “the next step” in this progress. “Come on, Santiago! Come on, Vox!” he proclaimed on Twitter, where the Hungarian leader also shared an image shaking hands with Abascal.

Orbán has already participated in the past in Vox events, which has also sought the support of other ultra-conservative European leaders such as Italy’s Giorgia Meloni and Poland’s Mateusz Morawiecki.
