BBVA is carrying out a humanitarian aid programme for those affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria through three major initiatives, one of which is the donation of 650 million Turkish liras (31.89 million euros), which will be channelled in coordination with the Turkish authorities.
In addition, the bank has launched a campaign to collect funds through Bizum, which will be used for humanitarian programmes, both in Turkey and Syria. People who decide to contribute can do so using the Bizum code 06941 or by accessing ‘Contribute to a charitable cause’ from the BBVA app. They can also make deposits in person at the branch network.
To date, the campaign has raised €1.5 million through Bizum alone.
Finally, another campaign collects funds from BBVA Group employees who wish to make contributions, which will go to the Garanti BBVA employees affected and their families. To date, 382,000 euros have been collected. BBVA will match the contributions made by employees.
