Next Tuesday, January 17th at 6 p.m., the Instituto Cultural Rumano together with the Romanian Embassy will celebrate the Romanian Culture Day at the Pérez Galdós hall of the Ateneo de Madrid (Calle Prado 21-3rd floor).

The event will include a poetic and musical recital and the presentation of the cultural programme Timisoara European Capital of Culture 2023. Representatives of the Romanian Embassy in Spain, the Timisoara 2023 European Capital of Culture Association, together with representatives of Spanish and European cultural institutions, as well as poets, literary critics, writers, translators, artists and students, under the chairmanship of José Manuel Lucía Mejías, will also take part in the event. Free admission until full capacity is reached.

The National Culture Day has been celebrated every 15 January since 2010, following a legislative proposal, the date chosen as the date of birth of the great national poet Mihai Eminescu (15 January 1850-15 June 1889), in the photo, considered by posthumous literary critics to be the most important poetic voice in Romanian literature. More information on the Institute’s website.
