From 25 October to 29 January next year, CentroCentro Cibeles, La Casa Encendida and the Museo Lázaro Galdiano will host the 8th edition of its Biennial of Contemporary Art, which will include around one hundred works by around 50 artists.
After the years of pandemic, the Fundación ONCE resumes this biennial with which it wishes to recognise and disseminate the work of women artists with some kind of disability or those who find their inspiration in disability. On this occasion, the exhibition is made up exclusively of women and is held under the slogan Women and Disability, and will include film and dance cycles, workshops and other parallel activities.
Among the artists exhibiting are Louise Bourgeois, Meret Oppenheim, Ángela de la Cruz, Emilie Gossiaux, Lucía Beijlsmit, Rebecca Horn, Paloma Navares, Judith Scott and Jana Sterbak.
In a complementary way, the Biennial offers free educational activities, which take place in parallel to the exhibition to encourage interaction with the works and the playful participation of the public. As it is an international exhibition, there are many collaborators who have helped to make the Biennial possible by lending works, speakers, actors and performing arts companies. Among them are: Musée de L’Abbatiale de Payerne, Facultad BBAA Cuenca, Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, Galerie Steinek Vienna and Louise Bourgeois Trust, among others.
