Within the framework of CIRCULAR 2022, IV Encuentro de Teatro Iberoamericano, next Thursday 27 October, at 8 p.m., Teatro Art’Imagem de Oporto, one of the most experienced theatre companies in Portugal, will present Noites brancas, an adaptation of the well-known novel by Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
There will be a single performance at the Teatro Paco Rabal in Madrid (Calle Felipe de Diego, 13, Entrevías), in Portuguese with subtitles in Spanish. Admission is free until full capacity is reached.
The plot tells the story of a romantic character in the clear summer nights of St. Petersburg and his encounter with Nástenka, a young woman whom he finds crying under the bridge of the Neva River. Almost immediately an intense connection is established between the two. Their subsequent encounters will be filled with revelations, dreams, fears and an enigmatic clash of passions. A thrilling tale of loneliness, sacrifice and the search for happiness.
Founded in 1981, Art’Imagem has produced nearly 120 shows, touring almost every European country. It has its main headquarters in Porto, and since 1982 has organised the country’s third oldest festival, the Make the Party – International Theatre Festival.
