Diplomat Santiago Herrero Amigo is the new Director of Cultural and Scientific Relations at the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID), replacing Guzmán Palacios, recently appointed Ambassador to Panama.
After entering the diplomatic career in 2007, Santiago Herrero was posted in Norway and Pakistan, but most of his professional career has been related to the world of culture.
Since August 2019, he has been Deputy Consul in charge of cultural affairs at the Spanish Consulate in New York, after having worked for the previous two years as Director of Programming at the Sociedad Estatal Acción Cultural Española.
He was also an advisory member in the cabinet of the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Ibero-America, dealing with cultural issues, and was posted to the Spanish Embassy in Japan as Counsellor for Consular Affairs.
