The president of CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, and the general administrator of the Panamanian Authority for Investment Attraction and Export Promotion (PROPANAMA), Carmen Gisela Vergara, have signed a collaboration agreement to promote business opportunities in both countries.
With this signing, which took place last Tuesday after a conversation in which investment opportunities in key sectors of the Central American country were addressed, the two parties renew the collaboration agreement signed in 2019 to encourage and promote bilateral business opportunities.
The meeting, held at the headquarters of the CEOE in Madrid, was also attended by the director of CEOE International and permanent secretary of the Council of Ibero-American Businessmen-CEIB, Narciso Casado; the ambassador of Panama in Spain, Allan Sellers Lara; and the commercial attaché of the Embassy, José Javier Vela.
“Spain is one of Panama’s most important trading partners,” said Vergara. “We share the language, the traditions, the gastronomy and above all the entrepreneurial spirit, and, therefore, we are sure that there are many and very advantageous investment opportunities for Spanish entrepreneurs, from the traditional sectors of tourism and agriculture, to the innovative digital sector or the Energy Transition Strategy and, undoubtedly, the logistics sector,” she added.
In turn, Narciso Casado highlighted the good relationship between Spain and Panama, reflected in the more than 130 Spanish companies established in the country, taking into account that it is the commercial and logistics hub par excellence in Latin America and one of the most open and dynamic economies in the region. For his part, Ambassador Sellers highlighted the excellent relations between Panama and Spain as “a relationship of equals, without complexes and of good companionship”.
