The Diplomat
Forty-five Ecuadorians living in Spain have obtained the title of Experts in Care of the Elderly or Dependents, issued by the International University of La Rioja (UNIR)- Supercuidadores, according to the Embassy of Ecuador.
The degree was awarded after successfully completing the training process 100% online and fully funded by the programme of 60 academic scholarships UNIR-Supercuidadores, which these entities convened last April, in collaboration with the Ecuadorian Embassy.
A group of students from the scholarship programme met with Ambassador Andrés Vallejo and UNIR’s Director of Institutional Projects, Joaquín Uríbarri, to discuss the results of their time on the training programme.
For the allocation of academic aid, UNIR-Supercuidadores considered the following requirements: to have Ecuadorian nationality and to be of legal age, with special attention to those who were unemployed.
With this programme, UNIR and Supercuidadores, in collaboration with the Embassy of Ecuador, seek to reinforce their commitment to social responsibility by offering the Ecuadorian community a free training programme in one of the activities with the greatest employment opportunities at present.
The course was given telematically, with a duration of 50 hours and 12 masterclasses specialised in the improvement of the home care service for elderly or dependent people, entertainment activities, effective communication techniques, first aid, hygiene guidelines, feeding and medication supply, among others. The video classes were given by professionals from different fields (nurses, psychologists, social workers…) of recognised prestige and pedagogical and socio-sanitary experience.
