The oriental jazz of Palestinian composer and pianist Faraj Suleiman will be the star of the evenings prepared by Casa Árabe in its courtyards on 21 July in Cordoba (8:30 p.m.) and 22 July in Madrid (9:30 p.m.).
Faraj Suleiman (1984) is a Palestinian composer and pianist. His music is strongly influenced by Arab and Eastern melodies and rhythms. He often incorporates these scales and modalities in his compositions. In addition to drawing inspiration from his Arab culture, he is also influenced by jazz traditions.
As an Arab musician and pianist trained in classical music, he constantly seeks new forms of expression to appeal to his “Eastern” and “Western” listeners alike. To date, Suleiman has composed several albums that have placed the ‘oriental’ piano at the centre of composition, from solo piano compositions to quartets, quintets, choral arrangements and full orchestras.
