The Instituto Francés recommends the concert entitled Oh! Pardon tu dormais… that the French singer Jane Birkin will give on 17 July at 10 p.m. in the Patio Central de Conde Duque (C/ Conde Duque, 11).
It has been twelve years since Jane Birkin last released an album, since Enfant d’Hiver, released in 2008. Now she is back with a work with a personality of its own. On the one hand, it is the first album to include some songs in English (Ghosts, Catch me if you can…) and on the other, it shows a Jane Birkin beyond the character we know. The French musician, composer, actor and performer Étienne Daho, one of the many artistic heirs of the chanson française, is in charge of orchestrating the return to the stage of a Birkin who, in some cases, sings new songs and sometimes others that she created nearly twenty years ago. The album is, in fact, a musical project written by Jane Birkin and Étienne Daho for one of the great ladies of Gallic song. Blanca Paloma, one of the most singular voices on the national music scene, will open the show with a repertoire of original songs that dialogue and embrace flamenco, electronic music and poetry from a sincere and personal point of view.
