Chilean Ambassador Roberto Ampuero has ended his mission in Spain, following the arrival of Gabriel Boric as President of Chile, who will appoint another person to take charge of the diplomatic representation in Madrid.

During the last week, Ampuero said goodbye to different authorities and representatives of Spanish institutions in the fields of politics, culture, education, art, business and economics, who in one way or another have contributed to improving the already excellent bilateral relations between Chile and Spain, according to the Embassy’s website.

Thus, the ambassador met, among others, with the State Secretary for Latin America and the Caribbean and Spanish in the World, Juan Fernández-Trigo, and with the Director General for Latin America and the Caribbean, Xavier Martí, as well as with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Pau Marí-Klose, with whom he discussed bilateral relations and international policy during his stay in Spain.

He also said goodbye to the Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, the Director of Casa América and former Spanish Ambassador to Chile, Enrique Ojeda Vila, with whom he maintained an intense collaboration that has allowed him to improve Chile’s visibility in the Spanish capital, in various areas such as Art, Culture and Education, adds the website.

Roberto Ampuero, who is also a renowned writer, also spoke during his farewell round of contacts with the director of the Cervantes Institute, the poet Luis García Montero, with the Nobel Prize winner for Literature Mario Vargas Llosa, and with several prominent Spanish journalists.

Finally, the ambassador, who has held the post since November 2019, said goodbye to the president of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations (CEOE), Antonio Garamendi.
