More than one hundred real estate agents from all over Spain have reactivated the solidarity initiative Emergency Home, launched in March 2020 in full confinement by COVID-19, to find free accommodation for individuals and families who are refugees in the wake of the invasion of Ukraine.
As reported by the Federation of Real Estate Associations (FAI) of Spain in a press release, this group of volunteer agents – “to which many more will continue to join” – will be responsible for putting Ukrainian refugees in need of accommodation in contact with owners willing to help and give away their empty properties for free, which in less than a week already exceed one hundred accommodations in different communities of the Spanish geography.
To speed up the process and facilitate the procedures for refugees, Emergency Home has volunteer Ukrainian translators and has translated its website into Ukrainian. The contact form is through www.emergencyhome.help or WhatsApp number 607 600 400. Likewise, at least one real estate agent will be at the disposal of each person or family housed at all times to help them with any formalities related to their temporary housing.
Emergency Home was born in March 2020, in the midst of the confinement caused by COVID-19, driven by real estate agents together with lawyers and digital marketing professionals, to offer free accommodation to health and essential workers who were displaced or did not want to sleep at home to prevent a possible contagion from affecting their closest relatives. The initiative was awarded a Fotocasa Pro 2020 Award for Best Strategy during COVID-19.
