ICEX-Invest in Spain has launched the 37th edition of the Guide to Business in Spain, prepared by the law firm Garrigues, which covers the “intense legislative activity” that has taken place in Spain over the last year, including measures to deal with the pandemic.
The Guide, which is now available free of charge on the Invest in Spain website in both Spanish and English, summarizes, in almost 400 pages, the main regulatory aspects affecting investments in Spain, with special attention to issues such as corporate, tax and labor law, money laundering, public aid, the financial sector, intellectual and industrial property, e-commerce, accounting and auditing, among others.
The Guide includes a broad summary of the Spanish Strategy for Science and Technology and Innovation 2021-2027, which is the reference framework for all aid and incentives for the promotion of scientific, technical and innovation research, and provides detailed information on the Plan for the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience of the Spanish Economy, which aims to counteract, in the medium and long term, the impact of the pandemic on investment and economic activity in Spain through European funds.
It also includes the main lines of the Sustainable Tourism Strategy for Spain 2030 and a chapter is dedicated to industrial and intellectual property, which analyzes, among other issues, the consequences that Brexit is having on the protection of trademarks in the United Kingdom and the European Union. Among the novelties this year, also noteworthy are the amendments in the commercial and labor area and the Law on Measures to Prevent and Combat Tax Fraud with regard to tax havens, which now change their name to “non-cooperative jurisdictions”.
The Guide to Business in Spain is aimed not only at those foreign investors who are approaching the Spanish regulatory environment for the first time, but also at those investors, Spanish or foreign, who already have some prior knowledge and want to deepen their knowledge of the most relevant aspects related to the establishment and development of a company in Spain. The Guide is one of the most downloaded documents on the Invest in Spain website. Last year’s edition attracted 45,869 users from 186 countries, who downloaded 3,224 files in 57,945 visits.
