With the premiere of Fuego on 22, 23 and 24 October, the Teatro Real completes the choreographic production of the Antonio Gades Company, of which it has already performed and recorded on DVD: Bodas de Sangre, Carmen, Fuenteovejuna and Suite Flamenca, available on the audiovisual platform My Opera Player. The music will be performed by the Teatro Real’s Main Orchestra under the direction of Miquel Ortega.
Premiered at the Théâtre de Châtelet in Paris in 1989, Fuego is the exponent of the purest Gades seal: “return to tradition if you want to evolve”; a transitional work between the already mythical stagings by Carmen and Fuenteovejuna, which has many of the resources created by the artist that have never been repeated, and which today constitute a surprise that makes the work maintain its freshness.
