The Council of Ministers yesterday approved the creation of the Interministerial Commission for the Commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Spanish Republican exile, which will be responsible for developing and coordinating the program of commemoration activities and ensuring the presence of the Government of Spain in the events that take place both in our country and in the south of France, Mexico and other Ibero-American countries.
The objective of this initiative, according to the Government, is “to make official recognition to the Spanish exiles and their places of memory, to pay tribute to the work done by the host countries and to make known the contributions of exile to the restoration of Spanish democracy and the development of the countries to which they left”.
The Commission will have the participation of the Ministries of the Presidency, Relations with Courts and Equality, Justice, Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Defense, Education and Vocational Training, Labor, Migration and Social Security, Culture and Sports, Health, Consumption and Social Welfare and Science, Innovation and Universities.
