“Bangladesh’s participation in Seafood Expo Global 2024 (SEG24) represents an invaluable opportunity for our companies and the country’s seafood sector,” said Bangladeshi ambassador Mohammad Sarwar Mahmood at the opening of its pavilion at the fair held in Barcelona from 23-25 April.

“This event,” continued the ambassador – accompanied by the president of the Bangladesh Frozen Seafood Exporters Association (BFFEA), Belayet Hossain and the embassy’s commercial counsellor, Redwan Ahmed – “recognised as the largest and most diverse in the global seafood industry, provides us with the ideal platform to showcase the quality and variety of our products to a global audience”.

Ten exporting companies from Bangladesh were present at this year’s 88 m2 stand: Sobi Fish Processing Industries LTD, National Sea Food Industries LTD, BD Seafood LTD, ANRAJ Fish Products IND LTD, Rosemco Foods Limited, Modern Seafood LTD, Mashud Fish Processing & Ice Complex, Jahanabad Seafoods LTD, Farid Nine Stars Agro Foods (BD) LTD and MU Seafoods LTD, in addition to nearly a hundred seafood export agents and entrepreneurs who took advantage of their presence in Barcelona to meet with local buyers, agents and exporters from around the world.

Our seafood exporting companies had the opportunity to connect with international buyers, agents and distributors from all over the world. This direct interaction is essential to expand our exports and build strong business relationships with strategic partners,” added Mohammad Sarwar Mahmood. “Seafood Expo Global not only promotes our brands and products on an international scale, but also reinforces Bangladesh’s reputation as a key player in the global seafood market.

The Ambassador further stressed that “the participation of the Government, represented by the Embassy, demonstrates our official commitment to the growth and sustainable development of our aquaculture sector” and underlined that “this event is essential for networking, exploring new business opportunities and promoting innovation in our industry”.

This international fair “not only represents an invaluable opportunity for Bangladeshi companies in the seafood sector, but also contributes to strengthening trade and diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and other countries represented in Spain,” concluded the ambassador.

This year’s SEG24 was the largest edition held to date, with an exhibition area of 51,227 square metres (4% more than in 2023) and bringing together 2,244 exhibiting companies from 87 countries in 67 national and regional pavilions. It is the world’s most diverse global trade show for the seafood industry and brings together every year key players from around the world: seafood suppliers, equipment, packaging and services, retail buyers, food service and distribution companies, importers, governments and industry leaders.
