Austrian ambassador in Madrid, Christian Ebner, stressed yesterday during a reception at his residence that more than 250 Austrian companies established in Spain are “very optimistic” because “trade is increasing, there is an increase in investments and the environment It is very positive”.

Before his guests, Ebner recalled that November 12 will be 100 years since the creation of the Republic of Austria, a date that also approved the right to vote for women.

The ambassador called the relations between Spain and Austria excellent, countries with common roots in their history and committed to the European project. In this regard, he referred to the recent visit to Madrid of the Austrian Chancellor, Sebastian Kurz, who was received by the King and met with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, as well as the contacts between the Foreign Ministers of the two countries

Noting that Austria expects the Presidency of the Community to contribute to the recovery of strength and the strengthening of EU unity this semester, she indicated that relations with Spain are very close and that thousands of students have visited both countries in the framework of the Erasmus Program. “To Spaniards and Austrians – he affirmed – we are united by many things: we love culture, we love nature, we work with effort when necessary. But we also know how to enjoy the good things in life ”

The Secretary General and the Deputy Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili and Jaime Cabal, respectively, were present at the reception; the director of the Satellite Center of the European Union, Pascal Legai: the general director of Western, Central and Southeast Europe, Aurora Mejía; the general director of Coordination of the Internal Market and other Community Policies, Pascual Navarro, and numerous ambassadors, mainly from the European Union.
