Marcelino Cabanas will be Spain’s ambassador to Nigeria.

The Council of Ministers yesterday appointed new ambassadors to Nigeria, Marcelino Cabanas Ansorena; to Ghana, Alicia Rico Pérez del Pulgar; and to Macedonia, Emilio Lorenzo Serra.
Marcelino Cabanas, the new ambassador to Abuja, is 60 years old and has been a diplomat since 1987. He was currently ambassador on special mission for Preventive Diplomacy and between 2012 and 2015 he was ambassador to Cameroon. He was previously assigned to Spanish diplomatic representations in Bolivia, Norway and Hungary and was consul general in Rabat and “number two” at the Embassy in Greece. He has also been deputy director general for United Nations and Global Affairs.
Alicia Rico, who will be ambassador to Ghana, was born in 1965 and entered the Diplomatic Career in 1991. She was previoulsy assigned to the diplomatic representations of Spain in Luxembourg, Kuwait and Oman. She was deputy director general of Chancellery and adviser for the European Space in the Permanent Representation of Spain before the European Union, in addition to participating in the DESP program of diplomatic exchange with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in the South American Division of the European Union.
Finally, the new ambassador to Macedonia, Emilio Lorenzo, 64, a diplomat since 1979, was assigned to the Technical Deputy Secretary-General and has been ambassador to Latvia, Deputy Director General for Energy Affairs and Deputy Director General of Western Europe. Previously, he was assigned to the Spanish diplomatic representations in Norway, Sweden, Germany, China, the Permanent Representation to the European Union and Belgium.
