The main organizations supporting the internationalization of Spanish companies, CESCE, ICO and the Chamber of Spain, have ensured that the US market is still very «important and attractive» for the companies of our country and they have even been convinced of that the commercial relations between the US and the European Union will be normalized despite the protectionist policies of President Donald Trump.

«Those who are going to stop Trump’s protectionist efforts are the American businessmen themselves”, said the director of International of the Chamber of Spain, Alfredo Bonet, during his speech at the Foro Diálogos de Internacionalización, organized by ESADE and Gestión Press.

In this regard, Bonet recalled that American business institutions have already warned Trump of the serious damage of protectionism and cited as an example the recent decision of motorcycle manufacturer Harley Davidson to move part of its production to Europe.

For its part, the director of the Area of ​​the Account of the State of CESCE, Beatriz Reguero, was convinced that, «in the medium term, the current situation of trade war will not continue and will be normalized» and assured that the CESCE will continue to make «a special effort to support SMEs in their projection abroad» despite the «uncertain world» in which we currently live «as a result of many political decisions”.

«The United States is an important market for the internationalization of Spanish companies,» said Ana Martínez, head of the Management Area of ​​the Official Credit Institute (ICO).

According to Martínez, the Institute has launched an International Canal Line», through «public-private collaboration», which aims to «take advantage of the knowledge of local banks to provide financing to Spanish SMEs abroad”. The ICO «has already signed five agreements that allow financing to Spanish companies in Latin America and the US», she added.
