El embajador de Venezuela espera mayor cooperación con Pedro Sánchez

Venezuela’s Ambassador, Mario Isea (in the above photo), said yesterday that “if one wants to help our country, the best way to do so is by lifting the blockade that makes difficult the acquisition of food, medicines, replacements and capital goods for our industry”. During the commemoration of the 207th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the diplomat advocated “resuming solidary cooperation” and “eliminating the absurd brand of threat for the United States”. “The fair thing”, he pointed out, “is for this blockade to stop”.

Isea shared his hope for “the arrival of a new government to Spain, defending dialogue as a priority, strengthening the channels to improve the level of relations within a framework of mutual respect and increasing cooperation, which is positively projected to the entire European Union”.

Isea claimed “the right (of Venezuela) to exercise its sovereignty in peace and without interferences, and to practice models of fair distribution of wealth without any type of discrimination”. As for the political crisis in the country, he reaffirmed “our right to solve the differences we face with our own tools, within a framework of participative democracy”. Finally, he criticized that “our election processes are discredited to discredit our government and justify a blatant economic blockade”.

The event started with the performance of the national anthems of Venezuela and Spain and with a floral tribute before the equestrian statue of Simón Bolívar in Madrid. The commemoration was attended by, among others, representatives of Izquierda Unida and Podemos in the Community of Madrid and the members of parliament of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya, Joan Tardá, Carolina Telechea and Jordi Salvador.
